Mama married John Wise Hargrove, Sr. on June 28, 1919, in Mt. Pleasant, Titus County, Texas. He was the son of Lemuel Hargrove and Martha Virginia Clark. He was born on December 24, 1862, in Clayton, Barbour County, Alabama. He died on March 3, 1937, in Paris, Lamar, Texas.
They had 5 children: John Wise Hargrove, Jr. born October 5, 1920, Mona Virginia Hargrove born August 24, 1922, Lemuel Hargrove born March 12, 1924, Eugene Hargrove born September 8, 1930, and Mary Ann Hargrove born July 20, 1934. All of the above are deceased except for Mary Ann Hargrove Schneilin.
After the death of John Wise Hargrove, Sr. Mama married my father, Edward Patrick Davis on September 17, 1941, in Little Rock, Pulaski County,Arkansas.At the time of the marriage, Daddy was 46 years old and Mama was 38. During this time, they were both residents of Talco, Titus County, Texas but later moved to Mt. Pleasant, Titus County, Texas. I was born on August 5, 1943. My parents later divorced when I was twelve years old. Daddy moved out and I continued to live with my mother until I granduated from high school and went off to college and later married.
