I believe that genealogy is the bridge which takes one on a journey back beyond their childhood, thus, along the way, helping them to understand themselves as well as others.
I have been interested in genealogy for a long time. I think this interest began in my teenage years and steadily grew into adulthood. Then after I married my husband and became a member of his church, I became even more involved in finding out about my ancestors.
I feel so fortunate to have an older sister who has also been committed to finding out about the past long before I found it so fascinating. Through her research and her willingness to share with others what she has found, I have been able to accumulate much knowledge about our family.
I have also received much information regarding the Morton line from a book by Blanche Morton Preedy-Aphecetche entitiled Morton (Ezekiel John) Family Genealogy.
Therefore, I want it noted that as you read the information that I have presented in this blog and entertain the facts therein, that most of the information has been attained from the efforts of these two individuals, along with some that I have added.
I am sure, from my observance of human nature, that the history presented here would be much more interesting to read if I added many of the negatives, as found in all families, and mistakes made by family members. That is not my intent here. Everyone makes mistakes and usually experiences situations leading up to these errors. If it is true what the Bible says, and I believe it to be so, these sins are to be forgiven and never mentioned again. "I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." Hebrews 8:12
It is my hope that anyone who reads this blog finds pride in whom they have become and pride in whom they have evolved from.
Also, I have found it very interesting in studying my genealogy, how it relates to my own personal life. It has given me answers and insight as to why I tend to do certain things, the orgins of some mannerisms that I possess, how I have come to feel about certain things, and how it relates to me and my life.
